Figure 1.1: What is computer graphics? This course is meant as an introduction to computer graphics, which covers a large body of work. The intention is to give a solid grounding in basic 2D computer graphics and introduce the concepts and some techniques required to implement 3D graphics. In order to achieve as complete an understanding as possible, we investigate the low level methods used in computer graphics while using OpenGL, a high level computer graphics Application Programmer Interface (API) to code up and use many of the methods discussed. Image processing is also briefly introduced, but in a more descriptive manner in the last part of the course.
